You cannot be too self-conscious as an artist. Obviously. No shrinking violet. Although, having said that, I sense that some artists (mostly inactive) are so self-conscious that they become paralysed. By what? Doubt? Insecurity. Self-awareness. Conscious of what they may make to the point of never being able to finish a piece, never mind show it. I don't have that problem.
