Happy New Year From Japan's Propaganda Dept (1939)

New Year's postcards sold in Japan. From Life magazine, Feb, 1939

Comic strip erasure

I came across these whilst rooting around, back in time, in my files. Not sure if I've shown them before. Comic strip romance erased with heavy black pen.

Covid-19 cartoon / Charcoal drawing

from The Spectator

You are still there. I am still here.

Meanwhile, attempts to stave off insanity by drawing don't look as if they'll have the desired effect. I have about...five (?) days of tolerance left in me before...what? A total breakdown! So now, under house arrest, we all meet various challenges head-on...relationships, family, loneliness, boredom....not forgetting financial ruin for businesses. I draw anyway...but it feels like the last desperate doodling by a convicted criminal on the prison wall...the day before execution!

Concrete Poetry: Right Away / Post-Election cartoon

Greetings from New (Blue) Britannia!
Some of us down South are working class too, y'know.

Here's a print I made this afternoon. Typed on the trusty old Remington which, to be honest, I might replace with a newer model next year, by which I mean something modern...from the 60s. Meanwhile, I hammer away with what I have.

A cartoon from The Spectator which Brits will appreciate...
