1821 collage predicts Punk graphics!

Browsing through a copy of The Spectator from July last year I found a feature on an exhibition of collage covering 400 years at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art. This piece, Scrapbook, by Mary Watson is striking because it's more than merely decorative work of the kind made by ladies of leisure throughout the 19th century. No pretty flowers or nice poetry, but a wry attitude evident in the selected text. It could almost be a fake, such is the irony involved in some of the cut out text. Amazingly prescient, it's like Punk zine graphics...150 years before its time.
