The Art of Thelonious Monk

On a day that the sun returns, so does Thelonious Monk. He's more reliable than the sun, it has to be said. I created the background to In Walked Bud a couple of days ago with a view to leaving it as it was. Today, however, I played the tune and felt it's creator should be added. The cut up music sheet is the actual tune, although how one is supposed to 'play Monk' I do not know.  It's unimaginable. The notes are the notes, yes, but surely there's something in the way Monk plays them? It is the bare bones of Bud Walked In, minus the improvisational magic, naturally. It's a cliche to call some music 'eternal' yet for me, Monk really does endure.
