Back to the drawing page this morning drawing on Wittgenstein not for inspiration, but literally because it amuses and satisfies my iconoclastic self to cover words of 'wisdom' with my art - a form of subversion, if you will - because I'm jealous of his brain - ha-ha! Seriously, though, I've no aspiration to write what most people couldn't understand. I'm not elitist in that sense. Neither was he, possibly, but what I know about him could be written on a postage stamp.
Then again, without the ability to write deep theoretical texts, I manage to confuse (?) people easily enough with my art, no doubt. Never intentionally. But, you know, images such as mine (some of them) aren't exactly easy to...understand? I shouldn't have started this subject...it just grew, as thoughts do...now I'll shut up about it.
I've been asked for an artist's 'statement' a couple of times recently, one for a forthcoming exhibition and another for work in a magazine. I don't do 'artist's statements', having nothing to state, concisely, in a manner which sums up my views on my art, or art generally. Readers of this blog may, however, have seen a few declarations akin to 'statements'.
Right now, there are mince pies to eat and I can't manage both that and writing...I bet Wittgenstein couldn't either...
