I've always liked old machines because in their imperfection they give you more freedom to experiment. I'm a big fan - and some time practitioner - of copy art or xerox art, but the latest photocopiers are too neat and precise for my liking.
Agreed! They force you to accept imperfection. As for modern copy machines/printers, I find them very useful, but I know what you mean. My old zines were done on relatively 'basic' copiers. At the time I thought it was great new technology, of course!
